Meet Yuval: A Tinkerer at Heart, Driven by Integrity

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

When I am not at work, I enjoy a wide range of hobbies that keep me active and creative at the same time. I love cycling and hiking, both of which give me a chance to explore the outdoors while staying fit. Gardening is another passion of mine. I find it incredibly rewarding to nurture plants and watch them grow from seedlings into full grown plants. My creativity is fed by singing and playing the guitar. I find it a great way to relax and express myself musically. I seem to always look for things to “fix” because it satisfies my curiosity and nurtures my problem-solving skills.

You have had a very broad career history. What led you to become a Quality Manager?

I have always had a passion for tinkering – fixing things and understanding how machines work. Naturally, it led me to pursue a career in engineering, starting with a BSc in Mechanical Engineering, followed by an MSc in Material Engineering. Over the years, I worked in a wide range of roles, including a process engineer, R&D engineer, and manufacturing manager. In one way or another, all of those jobs helped me become a better engineer.

How does Ophir add value to the photonics manufacturing process for customers?

Ophir’s creativity, customer-oriented approach, intelligence, and ethical standards collectively make a game-changing impact on the photonics manufacturing process. We not only develop and manufacture products in-house, but we also provide accredited ISO 17025 calibration services. This accreditation is crucial for customers because it ensures the highest standards of accuracy and reliability in their measurements.

What do you like most about Ophir’s in-house relationship?

Our in-house design and production team works seamlessly, thanks in large part to a collaborative approach and an extremely supportive environment. I can honestly say that everyone at Ophir finds ways to help one another and genuinely listens to each other. Our day-to-day work is infused with positive energy, providing us with a safe space to resolve complex issues. We support each other’s individual goals while also advancing our company’s shared objectives.
