What is automation?
The dictionary defines automation as: “the technique of making an apparatus, a process, or a system operate automatically.”
We define automation as: “the creation and application of technology to monitor and control your laser system.” In other words, automation at Ophir means using or creating outside applications to measure your laser.
Automation can be crucial to increasing productivity and quality beyond what is possible with the available manpower.
So how does it work with Ophir products?
There are many automation tools available for laser measurement – the most popular one being LabVIEW. LabVIEW is designed to give you the tools you need to quickly develop powerful test software. Ophir provides drivers that are compatible with LabVIEW allowing users to quickly and efficiently meet goals with minimum human interaction.
Below is a table of all Ophir software applications and the related applications and programming environments that they are compatible with. Each software program works with a specific automation method (e.g., COM). Each automation method has a given set of applications that is should work with. For example, .NET automation should work with anything written in a .NET language. However, this is a generalization and may not always be the case. For this reason, I listed below only the applications that Ophir guarantees are compatible. If you’re interested in using something else, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
