Discover how the newly upgraded Ariel is setting new standards for industrial laser measurement, offering enhanced performance, improved design, and unmatched durability.

A Proven Instrument Gets Even Better

For a number of years already, industrial laser users have been keeping their processes under tight control with the Ophir Ariel.
The Ariel is a compact, rugged, self-contained industrial power meter for high power laser measurement.
It measures beam powers up to 8KW – with wavelengths in several spectral regions – by a short exposure to the beam; the whole measurement is done within seconds.
No need for water cooling, since the fast measurement means the total amount of heat actually absorbed by the instrument is small.
The compact device can fit into tight spaces – such as additive manufacturing chambers – and the wireless Bluetooth interface means you can even close the door of the chamber.
You don’t need to worry about process debris inside the chamber; the Ariel’s industrial design means it’s dust and splash resistant.

The New Ariel: Improved Design for Enhanced Performance

Until now, the Ariel came with a protective window, which provides protection from dust and debris. A diffuser was also included; screwing in the diffuser in place of the window enables the Ariel to be used safely with tighter beams having higher power density.

Well, we’ve just improved that. The diffuser housing now has threads both on top AND on the bottom, so that the window and the diffuser can be stacked together. You can measure tight, high-power-density beams in – for example – your Additive Manufacturing process chamber, and the protective window protects the diffuser from particles and contamination. In fact, we recommend that users always add the window when using the diffuser, now that it’s possible. We’re calling this new version the “Ariel-V2” (See Fig. 1).

Seamless Upgrades and Worldwide Support

There’s also an upgrade path from the original Ariel version to the new version, for customers who already have an original-version Ariel.

When any service needs come up, such as annual recalibration, any repairs that might be needed, or even upgrading from an original to a new version Ariel, you’ll benefit from Ophir’s worldwide service presence.
